An Overview
We cruised aboard Royal's "Symphony of the Seas" in
Sep/Oct 2025 in what was supposed to be a Bahamas cruise.
Two major storms forced a diversion to Canada. It
certainly made for a memorable cruise.
Word arrived the afternoon before embarkation that we were
headed to Canada and making two stops in Nova Scotia,
specifically Sydney and Halifax. We've been to both
several times. As we headed north, word came in that
we would not be stopping in Sydney because the ship was to
large. This meant that Halifax would be the only port
and would happen 5 days into this 7 day cruise. We
arrived in the Nova Scotia area and ended up spending 3 days
sailing in circles. Fortunately, seas were so smooth
that you had to look outside to see that we were on a ship.
We had a Central Park Neighborhood balcony and welcomed the
sun that appeared several times per day.
Anyway, going north wasn't a problem for us because we were
able to re-pack for cooler weather. There were some on
the cruise who flew to New York a day or two before so it
was a quick trip to Walmart before boarding the ship.
Rumor had it that 700 cancelled.
Needless to say, there were complainers on board. Most
of the complaints were centered around compensation. A
few because of the cool weather making use of pools and
slides uncomfortable. We went with the flow and went
about enjoying the ship. A ship of this size has more
than enough going on to keep us happy. We went to
shows, found places to kick back and read our Kindles, drank
a few lattes, and didn't starve.
In Halifax, we went ashore, walked the boardwalk, and
searched for a Starbucks. (in CANADA!)
Overall Cruise
This video covers highlights for the cruise. to
get out at 6 in the morning and wander around the ship
before my first cup of coffee. I couldn't pass up the
opportunity to video the art exhibited in the public men's
rooms...
Sail Away Under The Bridge
We like to pick different perspectives for
capturing video as we cruise under the bridge. This
time we sat at the stern.
The Morning Hall Walk
One thing I enjoy doing on a cruise is walking the halls
every morning. It has been a number years since I
documented the daily routine...
