March 2010

ESP has been on our list of places to visit for quite awhile so we finally jumped in the car and checked out the place.  Our original intention was to visit ESP on a weekday but the prospect of driving on the Schuylkill Expressway during the week turned us away from that idea so we headed out early on a Sunday morning.  Besides an admission fee to enter the site, ESP also charges photographers an additional $10 for a tripod pass.  Since this was our first visit to the site, we decided to forgo tripods and hand hold our cameras.  I also decided to experiment with some focused off camera flash.  My fisheye lens was in my bag as well.  There were a number of photographers capturing multiple images for HDR processing.  HDR is one of those techniques we simply haven't gotten into yet.

ESP is VERY rustic and will probably remain so for the remainder of our lifetime at least.  Some restoration work was in progress and some areas were off limits.  Still, there was a lot to see and photograph.

NOTE: Clicking on some of these images will take you to our flickr site where you will find additional details and camera information.
