The weather was just about as perfect as it gets so where could we go that offers something different to point our cameras at. We came across some information about the Independence Day Program at Daniel Boone Homestead in Exeter PA. It's been a number of years since our last visit but even then all we could do was walk the grounds because none of the structures were open. For this day, however, everything was open for tours. Other demonstrations were planned as well.
We arrived early in hopes of beating the crowd that typically shows up for any holiday event. This one was different, a crowd never materialized which made for a very pleasant day. Don't get me wrong, there were spectators there but everyone was spread out enough so the demonstrations could be viewed and questions asked without trying to peer around a bunch of people.
Two items were of particular interest to us. The canon firing demonstration put on by Craig's Artillery and the 1st Pennsylvania Regiment's flintlock shooting. Both were very informative.
We took about 150 images between us and offer a few of them here. NOTE: Clicking on some of these images will get you a larger view and the metadata in case that is of interest.
