Eastern Neck Nat'l Wildlife Refuge
November 2008
Friends of ours (Judy & Robin) from North Carolina were going to be in Chincoteague VA for a few days taking pictures and asked if we wanted to join them. Being a "working stiff" meant I had to check my vacation calendar to see if I could spare a couple days.... we could so reservations were made and we were on our way. We drove straight through for 5-1/2 hours in what felt like a hurricane, lots of RAIN and WIND!
As luck would have it the next days weather was uncooperative... it rained! My first impulse is to leave the DSLRs in the car and take the P&S out of the bag but we resisted the urge and kept our DSLRs wrapped in plastic between showers. In spite of it all we captured some images of water fowl and the beach.
For the return trip we decided to make a stop in St. Michaels, a favorite destination from our Chesapeake sailing days. In fact, it's been 8-9 years since our last visit and that was by sailboat. We've never been there by car.
After checking into the hotel in St. Michael's, we walked the main drag taking pictures. We arrived, by chance, at "The Patriot" in time for their sunset cruise on the Miles River. It was a very enjoyable trip. Upon our return we settled in for dinner then scouted potential locations for some sunrise captures all the while taking some "time exposures" in town.
We were up before dawn the next day and did have a great sunrise to photograph. We were just about done when the showers started and they followed us for the remainder of the day......
Samples of the 400+ images we took can be found here.....
